(St. Paul, MN) — Minnesota star forward Kirill Kaprizov’s second goal of the game was the winner as the Wild beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 in overtime last night in St. Paul. Joel Eriksson Ek and Kaprizov gave the Wild a 2-0 lead but the Canadiens scored three straight, including a goal just :12 second into the third period, to take their first lead of the game. Brock Faber tied it with his 13th of the season before Kaprizov scored his fourth overtime game-winner of the season and the 14th of his career to ice the win. Quinn Hughes had three assists in the win as Matt Boldy and Marcus Johansson each also had a multipoint night. Filip Gustavsson got the win on 17 saves. The Wild are in Nashville on Wednesday night for their final game before the Olympic break.

(Memphis, TN) — The Memphis Grizzlies controlled the final three quarters of their 137-128 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves last night in Tennessee. The Grizzlies led by as many as 20 points in the victory. Jaren Jackson poured in 30 points, while Ty Jerome finished with 19. Memphis snapped a six-game losing streak to improve to 19-29. Anthony Edwards scored a game-high 39 points for Minnesota, while Jaden McDaniels finished with 29. The 31-20 Wolves had their four-game winning streak snapped. Minnesota visits Toronto tomorrow night at 6:30 P-M.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Timberwolves are still trying to bring in one of the best players in the N-B-A. Multiple media outlets are reporting that the team is actively recruiting third and fourth teams to join a potential trade that would send Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo to Minnesota. The Wolves are still reportedly a long shot to get a deal done before Thursday’s trade deadline. Antetokounmpo is averaging 28 points and ten rebounds per game this season.

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins continue to gear up for spring training, which officially kicks into gear in Fort Myers, Florida next week. Twins ace right-hander Pablo Lopez missed much of last season with injury, but says his arm feels “lively” and he’s been throwing since October. Lopez says he is looking forward to leading a pitching staff that has a lot of potential with all-star Joe Ryan returning and a fairly lengthy list of pitchers with big league starting experience. Lopez says he hopes to serve as a mentor for some of the team’s young players, who provide an energy that he calls fresh and aggressive. Twins pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to spring training a week from Thursday with position players mandated to report by February 16th. The Twins have an exhibition against the University of Minnesota on Friday, February 20th and open Grapefruit League play against Boston on Saturday, February 21st. The regular season begins at Baltimore on March 26th. The Minnesota home opener comes against Tampa Bay on April 3rd at Target Field in Minneapolis.

(Undated) — All-Star second baseman Brendan Donovan is heading from the Cardinals to the Mariners as part of a three-team trade that included the Rays. Donovan hit .287 with 10 home runs and 50 R-B-I a year ago. In the deal, Seattle sent prospects Jurrangelo Cijntje and Tai Peete and the number 68 overall pick in this summer’s draft to St. Louis and infielder Ben Williamson to Tampa Bay. The Rays also sent outfielder Colton Ledbetter and the 72nd overall pick in the draft to the Cardinals in the deal.

The Bulldogs slipped three spots to tenth in this week’s rankings. St. Thomas is rated 15th and Minnesota State-Mankato is 17th. Michigan is the top-ranked men’s team. The University of Minnesota remains third in this week’s national U-S-C-H-O ratings, behind top-ranked Wisconsin and number-two Ohio State. Minnesota-Duluth slipped one spot to ninth, while Minnesota State-Mankato is 15th this week. The Augsburg women are third in this week’s Division III poll, with Hamline ranked sixth. UW-River Falls is number-one.

(San Jose, CA) — The Seattle Seahawks are setting up to face a familiar foe in Super Bowl 60. Seattle’s players and coaches addressed their upcoming matchup when they hit the stage at Super Bowl Opening Night at the San Jose Convention Center on Monday. The Seahawks square off against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60 on Sunday. They will be aiming to redeem themselves after losing to the Patriots 28-24 in Super Bowl 49 in February 2015. The franchise will be making its fourth appearance in the Big Game, with all four coming in the past 21 seasons. The team is led by former Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba on offense. They also feature one of the top defenses in the league that has been built by second-year head coach Mike Macdonald.

(Lake Forest, IL) — Colston Loveland is earning recognition from the Chicago Bears. The rookie tight end was named the Bears Rookie of the Year yesterday. Loveland was Chicago’s first round pick in the 2025 N-F-L Draft. He caught 58 passes for 713 yards and six touchdowns with the Bears last season.

(Nashville, TN) — The Tennessee Titans will reportedly hire Gus Bradley as their defensive coordinator. The longtime N-F-L coordinator had previous stops with the Seahawks, Chargers, Raiders and Colts, as well as three years of head coaching experience with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He coached alongside Tennessee head coach Robert Saleh with the San Francisco 49ers this season. Bradley is from Zumbrota and played college football at North Dakota State.
