The Milwaukee Brewers signed right-handed pitcher Jacob Waguespack to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training on Thursday, per his transaction log.

Waguespack spent time with the Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays last season. He finished the minor league season with the Phillies, pitching in 10 games for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Overall, he had a 2.45 ERA in 25 relief appearances last season.

Waguespack is a tall right-hander who gets great extension off the mound. He ranked in the 92nd percentile for extension during his last stint in the big leagues. He has pitched in three big league seasons, for the Toronto Blue Jays and Rays, and two Nippon Professional Baseball seasons, for the Orix Buffaloes.

In 31 big league games, he has made 14 starts and has a 5.11 ERA overall. During his time in Japan, he had a 4.02 ERA in 63 games. Last season, he worked exclusively out of the bullpen.

The Brewers have a reputation for finding pitchers who may have been forgotten and turning them into weapons. Waguespack could be the next in a long line of reclamation projects in Milwaukee. He does not have any minor league options remaining, so he will have to prove he can be of real use to earn a spot on the 40-man roster.
