There’s nothing that the Milwaukee Brewers want more than to get to the World Series this season. They had a solid run to the National League Championship Series in 2025 before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Brewers have made a few moves in the offseason, with the biggest one being a trade with the New York Mets that sent starting pitcher Freddy Peralta to the Big Apple.

Now, with Brewers manager Pat Murphy looking to get even better than last season, what does the future hold for the ballclub?

According to a new article from MLB.com and based on 2026 standings and projections provided by FanGraphs, the Brewers are listed as a team trending downward. The article named four teams that the projections see going upward and four on a downslide.

The FanGraphs’ projection has Milwaukee finishing with an 83-79 record in 2026, which would be a 14-win dropoff by the ballclub.

“The Brewers always seem to be underappreciated in projections,” according to MLB.com reporter David Adler. “So we wouldn’t be surprised if they’re right back on top of the NL Central for a fourth straight season despite being projected for a mere 83 wins in 2026, a 14-win decrease from their 97-win 2025 season.

“Even with another low-ish projection, Milwaukee is still positioned to be in the playoffs as the third NL Wild Card team,” Adler wrote. “But that’s a long way from ‘the most wins of any team in the Majors,’ which is where the Brew Crew was last year.

“The 2026 Brewers look like the same type of team they’ve been the last several seasons, though — one that puts the pressure on opponents with ultra-aggressive baseball — and that’s how they win,” Adler continued. “The projections might be way too low on them once again.”

Among the pitchers on the Milwaukee 40-man roster at this time are Angel Zerpa, Brandon Woodruff, Jacob Misiorowski, Trevor Megill, and Brandon Sproat. As for the infielders, among them are Brice Turang, Andrew Vaughn, Jake Bauers, and Joey Ortiz.

William Contreras and Jeferson Quero are slotted as the Brewers’ catchers. In the outfield, Milwaukee has, among a number of them, Christian Yelich, Jackson Chourio, Sal Frelick, and Akil Baddoo.

Does this team strike fear into other National League Central Division teams? Milwaukee had that 97-win season in 2025. A number of these players were on that squad, too. It’s tough to believe that the Brewers are going to have a downturn, but that’s the projection.

Murphy has his work cut out for him at this point. Spring Training is just around the corner, too.
