Temperatures in Philadelphia just inched above freezing for the first time in over a week, dirty snow and ice still blankets the ground as far as the eye can see, and more arctic weather is on the way…
…but fear not, because Spring Training is right around the corner!
Truck Day foreshadowed the beginning of a new season on Tuesday morning. The Phillies loaded up three 28-foot trailers with thousands of essential items for Spring Training, including 1,200 bats, 2,400 baseballs, 2,500 shirts, 140 batting helmets, 20 coolers and apparently “several” bikes:

The truck departed from Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday afternoon. It is scheduled to arrive at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Fla. on Sunday, three days before the Phillies pitchers and catchers report for their first workout on Feb. 11.Â

The equipment will travel 1,058 miles over five days en route to its destination.Â
In Philadelphia, the 2025-26 winter seems endless. But Truck Day is a harbinger of warmer days to come, and anticipation for another summer spent at the ballpark can now begin to build in earnest.
