Former MLB All-Star outfielder Avisail Garcia, who played for the Chicago White Sox, Miami Marlins and more, has retired from MLB after 13 seasons.

Garcia, 34, announced his retirement in an Instagram post on Monday. He last played in MLB in April 2024 and was released by the Marlins on June 4 of that year.

“Thank you to God for the blessing of fulfilling my childhood dream—of playing baseball at its highest level,” Garcia wrote.

“Baseball gave me far more than I could have dreamed: achievements, experiences, and values I will carry with me always. I close this chapter with pride and gratitude, ready for new chapters in life,” he added.

The Venezuela native made his MLB debut with the Detroit Tigers in 2012, but was traded the following season to the White Sox. He played five-plus seasons with Chicago from 2013-18, including an All-Star year in 2017 when he hit .330 with 18 home runs, 80 RBI and an .885 OPS.

Garcia also played one season with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2019 and two seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers from 2020-21. He posted a career-high 29 home runs and 86 RBI in 2021 while with the Brewers.

Garcia parlayed his career year with Milwaukee into a four-year, $53 million free agent contract with the Marlins in December 2021. However, he hit .217 with 13 home runs and a .582 OPS in 153 games over parts of three seasons from 2022-24.

For his career, Garcia hit .263 with 140 home runs, 524 RBI and .733 OPS in 1,104 games.
