Carlos Santana is remaining in the National League.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon report the veteran first baseman has an agreement with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The deal for the 39-year-old Santana is pending a physical.

A native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Santana heads into his 17th big league season. He split 2025 between the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago Cubs. He appeared in a combined 124 games, batting .219 with 11 home runs, 54 runs batted in and an OPS of .633.

An All-Star in 2019, Santana has appeared in 2,204 career games with the Cubs, Guardians, Minnesota Twins, Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals and Philadelphia Phillies.

For his career, Santana is a .241 hitter with 1,880 hits, 335 home runs, 1,135 runs batted in and an OPS of .777.

Santana’s 335 home runs are 10th-most among active players.
