Former Cleveland Guardians first baseman Carlos Santana has signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Santana and the DBacks agreed to a one-year, $2 million contract on Tuesday, according to MLB.com.

Santana, 39, has played 11 of his 16 MLB seasons in Cleveland, including most of the 2025 season. Santana hit .225 with 11 home runs in 116 games for the Guardians last season, but was released by the team on Aug. 28. He soon after signed with the Chicago Cubs, where he hit 2-for-19 (.105 BA) in eight games played.

Santana made his MLB debut with Cleveland in 2010 and played the first eight seasons of his MLB career with the Guardians. He played one season with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2018, but returned to Cleveland for two more seasons, earning his lone career All-Star selection in 2019.

The switch-hitter also played for the Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers and Minnesota Twins before signing for a third stint in Cleveland in December 2024.

In 16 MLB seasons, Santana has a .241 batting average, 335 home runs, 1,136 RBI and a .777 OPS in 2,204 games played.
