Major League Baseball’s spring training starts in less than a week, with the first official report day being February 9th. This means that teams across the league have sent out invites to several players to join the team in spring camp. On Wednesday, the Atlanta Braves announced via their social media the 24 players that will be with the team in North Port, Fla, over the next month.

The team extended 10 invitations to pitchers, three to catchers, seven to infielders, and four to outfielders. Among the 24 players, a good handful are the Braves’ top prospects, including JR Ritchie, Garrett Baumann, and Owwn Murphy. The notable players with big league experience include Carlos Carrasco, Sandy Leon, Chadwick Tromp, and Martin Perez. Perez was brought in just last week.

Will Any of These Players Make the 40-Man Roster?

Considering it’s spring training, it’s hard to forecast if any of these players will end up on the Braves’ official 40-man roster. There is some flexibility coming for the Braves roster in the coming weeks, as once spring camp opens, Atlanta (and any other of the 29 MLB teams) can place players on the 60-day IL, which would open up spots on the current roster.

Atlanta’a 40-man roster is currently full, and the team is bringing 64 total players to spring training.

MLB Spring Training is a great opportunity for prospects across the league to showcase their talents further in front of their organization. It’s almost designed nowadays more for young players than anyone who will play a prominent role with the team in 2026. The other side of the coin is for players like Sandy Leon and Carlos Carrasco, who are trying to prove they still have a place in MLB. Carrasco spent a short time with the Braves in 2025, but posted an ugly 9.88 ERA in 13.2 innings with the team later in the year.
