The other thing about the illogical nature of fandom is, it is reluctant to admit to faults or failings. I am a Diamondback fan, and it’s easy for criticism of them – at any level, from a single player up to the franchise as a whole – to be taken as personal. I feel kinda obligated, in a kneejerk reaction, to defend them against it, whether or not it might be right. Maybe Kyle Tucker is better than Corbin Carroll. He is, after all, certainly earning a lot more money this year. There are certainly times where a potential truth is hard – not necessarily to admit or agree with, but simply to acknowledge as a possibility.
What is the thing you’re afraid to say out loud about this team?
I must admit, when I first saw this question, it seemed a little ludicrous: “afraid”? Really? But the more I think about it, the more it seemed like it might make for an interesting discussion. If you’re looking for suggestions, a couple of our sibling sites already posed the question earlier in the week, and the answers there could spark ideas of your own. Here are the links to the threads on the topic over at Bleed Cubbie Blue, Brew Crew Ball and Drays Bay.
