Texas A&M baseball is gearing up for the 2026 season, and while expectations are modest, the roster is strong enough to make a legitimate push back to postseason play. Regardless of how the year unfolds, one thing feels almost guaranteed: several Aggies on this roster have a real chance to hear their names called in the MLB Draft or work their way into professional baseball soon.

Why the confidence? Texas A&M produces professional athletes, with the best of them. The program consistently develops top‑tier prospects, and it seems like every few months, another former Aggie is either getting called up, signing a new contract, or making headlines across the baseball world.

Along with Braden Montgomery earning an invite to the Chicago White Sox spring training camp, former Texas A&M pitcher Chris Cortez has now been invited to the Los Angeles Angels’ spring training camp. During his time in College Station, Cortez was known for his overpowering fastball and intimidating presence on the mound. When his command was locked in, he was one of the toughest pitchers in the SEC to square up.

Cortez played a pivotal role in the Aggies’ 2024 College World Series run and ultimately became a second‑round draft pick by the Angels. His invitation to camp marks another significant step in his path toward reaching the big leagues.
