Ty France

As the MLB offseason winds down with MLB Spring Training just weeks away, one of the top remaining free agents available that is starting to emerge as a true target for teams to sign is Ty France.

*Prediction*

With France, he is a player at this point in free agency that teams can look to sign on a manageable contract, but still get impactful production out of. One of the teams that can make a push to sign him is the Cleveland Guardians.

Ty France is coming off a productive 2025 season. He ended up with a .257/.320/.360 slash line while adding on seven home runs and 52 runs batted in. Offense has been a staple for him throughout his career, as he has a career slash line of .262/.334/.400 slash line with 81 home runs, and 364 runs batted in.

The offensive production alone makes France an ideal target in free agency at this point, but his improved defense at first base is also a selling point. Last season he ended up with nine Defensive Runs Saved and 10 Outs Above Average.

There is also the versatility factor when it comes to France as he has pent time playing first base, second base, and third base. With France’s skills, it makes him an ideal target for the Guardians.

Currently, Kyle Manzardo is the first baseman the Guardians have in place for 2026. While his development has been a main focus of Cleveland’s, they also need to realize they ned better first base production if they are going to be contenders.

An area that Cleveland struggled with in 2025 was their offense, as they lacked the ability to produce consistent results, leading to them having to play perfect on defense.

To solve their first base issue while also adding a player to their lineup that can bring an offensive boost, that is where Ty France becomes the ideal free agent for Cleveland to sign.
