Team Summary: After missing the WBC in back-to-back cycles, Panama returned in 2023 and won two games, but still fell short of advancing past the group stage. This year, they may be poised to change that narrative. The roster features 15 players with current MLB ties, and their catchers are excellent. In a very wide-open Pool A with no overwhelming favorite, Panama has a solid chance of finishing high enough to automatically qualify for the next WBC, and escaping the pool is a possibility.

The lineup should be quite solid, and the infield defense could be better than a number of teams. Like many WBC teams looking to escape the first round, the pitching will be the biggest question. Guardians LHP Logan Allen, veterans like Humberto Mejia, Ariel Jurado, Jaime Barria and Javy Guerra should keep Panama in games.

Top Players: C Iván Herrera enjoyed a breakout campaign, posting a career year with 19 home runs and 66 RBIs for the Cardinals. SS José Caballero has average contact but great speed, swiping a career-high 49 bases in 2025 and making himself a constant threat on the basepaths. INF Leo Jiménez knows how to get on base, while C Miguel Amaya gives the club another steady veteran.

Best Prospects: C Leo Bernal ranks as the No. 10 prospect in a Cardinals system that Baseball America ranked as the second-best farm system in baseball. CF Enrique Bradfield Jr., the Orioles eighth-ranked prospect, is one of the game’s premier speed threats, totaling 110 stolen bases over the last two seasons, and he pairs that with elite defensive ability.
