With the 2026 World Baseball Classic set to begin in March, the preliminary roster for the Dominican Republic is here. Initial rosters are subject to change. Read on below for our team summary and breakdown of top players and prospects to know.

Team Summary: As good as Team USA is, the Dominican Republic lineup can come pretty close to matching Team USA bat-for-bat. An outfield of Juan Soto, Julio Rodriguez and Fernando Tatis Jr. is exceptional, and the infield will include Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Ketel Marte, Geraldo Perdomo, Jeremy Peña, Junior Caminero and Manny Machado. Even with a DH, someone from that group is going to have to sit on the bench.Â
Where the D.R. will have a bigger hurdle is on the mound. Christopher Sánchez is the clear ace, and Sandy Alcantara is far enough removed from his Tommy John surgery to be a potential second No. 1. But in the later rounds, the team’s starting pitching and bullpen depth could get tested against the best of the rest. This is a team that has the talent to win it all with just a couple of breaks, and they are the clear favorite to claim one of the two spots coming out of Pool D.
The D.R. won it all in 2013, but it was knocked out in second-round pool play in 2017 and was much more embarrassingly knocked out in the first round in 2023. This roster should avoid a similar early exit in 2026.
Top Players: OF Julio Rodriguez finished sixth in AL MVP voting in 2025, and 3B Junior Caminero, SS Jeremy Peña and 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. all received AL MVP votes. OF Juan Soto finished third in NL MVP voting while SS Geraldo Perdomo finished fourth. OF Fernando Tatis Jr., LHP Christopher Sánchez and 2B Ketel Marte all received NL MVP votes. Sanchez was second in NL Cy Young voting.
Best Prospects: No player on the Dominican Republic team is still prospect eligible. This is a full roster of MLB vets, with Albert Abreu being the only player on the roster who didn’t play in the majors in 2025.
