Free-agent relief pitcher Scott Barlow, who made 75 appearances for the Cincinnati Reds in 2025, reached a one-year, $2 million contract with the Athletics that includes $1.3 million in performance bonuses, according to a report via Twitter/X from Robert Murray.

Barlow signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Reds about one year ago.

Barlow posted a 4.21 ERA with 75 strikeouts and 45 walks in 68 1/3 innings for the Reds in his eighth big-league season. He had one save, and his start for Cincinnati in September was the first of his MLB career.

The Reds announced in Nov. 2025 they declined their contract options on Suter and fellow reliever Scott Barlow, as well as outfielder Austin Hays. Hays reached a one-year deal with the Chicago White Sox; Suter signed a one-year deal with the Angels.
