Cincinnati native and former Reds player Brent Suter finalized a new contract with the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.Suter, 36, previously played as a relief pitcher for the Reds for two seasons in 2024 and 2025.However, the Reds declined club options on Suter at the end of last season, making him a free agent. Fellow relief pitcher Scott Barlow and outfielder Austin Hays also had their club options declined by the team, with Barlow signing with the Athletics this week and Hays signing with the Chicago White Sox.According to MLB.com, the contract will last one year, with Suter set to receive $1.25 million as a result of the deal.The Angels will be Suter’s fourth team in Major League Baseball, after making his major league debut with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2016. Suter also pitched one season in 2023 with the Colorado Rockies in between his time with the Brewers and Reds.In his most recent season, Suter recorded a 4.52 ERA and 53 strikeouts across his 48 appearances with the Reds. However, his career ERA is notably lower, at 3.57.Suter is a Cincinnati native who graduated from Moeller High School in 2008. He later went on to play baseball at Harvard University and was drafted by the Brewers upon graduating in 2012.
