With the MLB offseason progressing, there are numerous teams that still need to find shortstop help for the upcoming 2026 MLB season. With Bo Bichette now off the market as well, the best route for teams to go will be to look to trade for a quality shortstop. This raises the value for CJ Abrams.
*Prediction*
The Washington Nationals are still a rebuilding team, and they showed this earlier in the offseason when they went on to trade MacKenzie Gore to the Texas Rangers. The next player they can look to trade to gain as much value as possible is CJ Abrams.
One team that makes sense to emerge with immense interest in trading for Abrams is the Atlanta Braves.

Washington Nationals Trade CJ Abrams to the Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves thought they had their shortstop spot figured out for the 2026 season as they went on to sign Ha-Seong Kim back to the roster. That took a turn as Kim slipped on ice and ended up tearing a tendon in his right middle finger. Kim will be out until at least June, and already had injury concerns.
The Braves need to pivot and look for their shortstop solution elsewhere. This becomes even more important considering the Braves had just a 76-86 record last season and need to figure out a way to improve and get back to being a World Series contender.
For a player that can provide the Braves with an impactful bat on offense while also providing a solution at shortstop, the Braves can look to trade for CJ Abrams.
The defense for Abrams hasn’t been elite, but he at least provides serviceable play there to make enough of an impact. While his defense might not be fantastic, his offense makes up for it. Over his career, he has posted a .249/.306/.411 slash line with 59 home runs, and 210 runs batted in.
Just last season, Abrams ended up with a .257/.315/.433 slash line, 19 home runs, and 60 runs batted in while also stealing 31 bases. His batting ability and speed to steal bases make him a true offensive force.
CJ Abrams still has three years left of team control as well. Abrams can be an impactful player for the Braves, while also giving them multiple years of security at the position.
