“I can play wherever the coach needs me to,” Delaney said. “I feel like I’m a natural athlete and will give it my best wherever I play.”
There have been a slew of memorable moments for Delaney in a blue and gold Troup jersey. None of those memories quite stand out like his walk-off steal of home in game one of the state quarterfinals against Jefferson in 2025.
“We have baseball season coming up, so I watched some of the highlights from last year. It seemed like every single highlight was Torreion, whether it was stealing home against Jefferson to win the game, making plays at second base, making plays in the outfield, just super excited that he’s getting this opportunity to go to the next level,” head coach Tanner Glisson said.
With the weight of recruitment off his shoulders, Delaney will now get the chance to focus all his efforts on helping Troup try to repeat as state champions.
“Now I can just go out there and play confident, play loose, and just have fun with my teammates,” Delaney said.
