Newly signed San Francisco Giants second baseman Luis Arraez says he doesn’t plan on making any adjustments to his plate approach after a down year in 2025.
The three-time All-Star spent the past two seasons with the San Diego Padres and saw his batting average dip to .292 from a league-leading .314 in 2024 and .354 with the Miami Marlins in 2023.
Luis Arráez said he doesn’t plan to change his offensive approach despite lower numbers in ’24 and ’25. He added that the concussion he sustained last season affected “everything.” pic.twitter.com/NeWN8d7F4B

“No, I don’t have to change anything,” Arraez said on Tuesday. “I had a concussion last year, a big concussion in Houston. It’s not an excuse, but it affected me a lot. But I think it’s a new year, I think it’s another opportunity to get better and I’m ready to go, man. The numbers are going to be there if I play hard.”
The Padres placed Arraez on the seven-day concussion list on Apr. 21 after a collision with Astros infielder Mauricio Dubon the previous day saw him carted off of the field. He would go on to miss six games, returning on Apr. 29 against the Giants.
Arraez still led the NL with 181 hits in 2025.
A native of San Felipe, Venezuela, the three-time batting champion heads into his eighth big league season. By winning a batting title with the Minnesota Twins in 2022 and the Marlins in 2023, Arraez became the first player in big league history to win titles in both leagues in consecutive years. In 2024, he became the first player to win a batting title with three different teams.
The Giants open their Cactus League schedule on Feb. 21 against the Seattle Mariners. Their regular season opener comes on Mar. 25 at home to the New York Yankees.
