Oregon and Oregon State baseball will play a third nonconference game this season at a neutral site.

The No. 12 Beavers and Ducks will play on April 14 at 6 p.m. at the new Hops Ballpark in Hillsboro. It’s the first time in 17 years the rivals are meeting in the Portland metro area.

“We are excited to bring this rivalry game to the Portland area and to a brand-new, state-of-the-art stadium,” Oregon coach Mark Wasikowski said in a statement. “This event allows us to connect with Duck fans across the state and showcase college baseball at the highest level while supporting the continued growth of our program.”

Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at milb.com/hillsboro/tickets. Oregon State will be in the first-base dugout and Oregon will be on the third base side for the 370th all-time meeting in the rivlary, which Oregon State leads 197-172.

It will be the first of two games in Hillsboro this season for the Beavers, who also play Portland on May 5.

“Playing a game like this in the Portland area is incredibly important for Oregon State baseball,” Oregon State coach Mitch Canham said in a statement. “It gives us an opportunity to continue to engage fans even though we are no longer in the same league, grow the game, and highlight the passion that exists for baseball in Oregon. Events like this help strengthen our program and our connection to the community.”

Proceeds from the game — the Northwest Elite Baseball Classic — are guaranteed to each baseball program.
