Union, N.J. (2/10/26) – The Kean University baseball team opened up the 2026 season with a 16-6 win over Moravian University on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Greyhounds (0-1) tacked on the game’s first run in the top of the second of an RBI groundout after two singles in the inning.
Tyler Stone erased the deficit with a bases clearing triple in the bottom of the same frame to give #4 Kean (1-0) a lead they would not relinquish.
The Cougars exploded with seven runs in the fourth to put the game out of reach. Highlighting the offense was a sac fly by Jude Clough, a two RBI double from Justin Teixeira, bases loaded walk by Dominic Masino, bases loaded hit-by-pitch from Dan Reistle and a sac fly by Stone.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Stone was 2-for-2 with four RBI while Michael Simone came off the bench to drive in three. Teixeira was 3-for-3 with two RBI and Reistle was 1-for-1 with three runs scored and three stolen bases.
Anthony Marano got the start and allowed just one run in four innings and two hits. He struck out three and walked four. Anthony Joltje got the win in relief with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts.
