When I started this short series, I really wanted to focus on the Guardians fans who use the team and baseball as inspiration in their hobbies. As someone who collects hobbies as a hobby, I have always turned to the Guardians when I’m facing a creative block.

From transforming a thrifted sweatshirt and some scrap fabric to a custom shirsey, to mixing ink and glitter with silicone caulk to decorate top loaders, and just about everything in between I know I can find inspiration in this team.

When I reached out to the people featured in this series, I knew they found the same inspiration in their own way.

I had a lot of fun talking with Madelyn, Sarah, Michael, Meg, and Beth and learning how they got into their medium and their creative process. Showcasing other creators who look at something and ask themself “how can I make this about baseball?” helped fill the time before Spring Training with some great art and fun stories. I thoroughly enjoyed writing this series and hope that it is something that can be brought back next year. That said, there were a few comments left throughout the series on artists that I should reach out to. If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments! I would love to revisit this again.

Spring Training is practically here and before you know it the thermometers will read 80°F with 95% humidity and the dulcet tones of Tom Hamilton will be gracing our ears.
