After helping the Philadelphia Phillies to a NL Pennant in 2022, 2-time All-Star, former Silver Slugger winner Nick Castellanos has been released by the ball club.
The Phillies are responsible for the $20 million remaining on the deal.
Castellanos signed with the Phillies back in March 2022 on a five-year, $100 million deal.
He’s had his highs and lows with the Phillies, but it reached a boiling point toward the backend of the 2025 season when manager Rob Thompson benched the former Tigers’ first round pick.
The Phillies were rumored to be shopping the 13-year veteran in the offseason, but no trade materialized.
Castellanos posted his lowest BA (.250) and OBP (.294) since joining the Phillies this past season.
