The son of a Houston Astros legend is headed to West Palm Beach to join the team for Spring Training.
HOUSTON — Cavan Biggio, the son of Astros legend Craig Biggio, is set to report to West Palm Beach for Spring Training after signing a minor-league contract with Houston, the team announced on Sunday.
Cavan Biggio has made 561 Major League appearances, most recently in 2025 with the Kansas City Royals. Over his career, Cavan Biggio recorded 80 doubles, 52 home runs, 190 RBIs, and has drawn 262 walks. He has a career .712 OPS.
He was drafted by the Toronto in 2016 from Notre Dame and made his Major League debut in 2019 with the Blue Jays. Cavan Biggio has also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves.
“Biggio has been a versatile performer throughout his Major League career, having appeared at every position except pitcher and catcher,” the Astros said. “Additionally, he has made starts at every position except shortstop, pitcher, and catcher.”
The majority of his Major League playtime comes at second base, with 219 starts, followed by 82 starts at third base, 61 at first, and 104 starts between the three outfield positions. The team said he’s also made a start at shortstop.
The Astros’ first Spring Training match is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, against the Washington Nationals.
