CLEARWATER, FL – Jordy Frahm threw a complete game shutout and knocked two home runs to lead the No. 11 Nebraska softball team to a 6-0 victory over the UCF Knights Saturday afternoon in Clearwater.
With the win, the Huskers improved to 5-4 overall and 2-2 on the weekend, while UCF fell to 8-3. NU handed the Knights their first shutout of the season.
Frahm claimed the win in the circle after allowing no runs and only three hits while striking out seven batters. At the plate, she was 2-for-2 with two home runs and three RBIs. Frahm reached base twice more with a walk and hit by pitch.
Bella Bacon and Lauren Camenzind contributed two hits apiece, while L. Camenzind added two RBIs. Bacon, L. Camenzind, Carlie Muhlbach and Katelyn Caneda each had a double.
Frahm opened up the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the first.
In her first at bat of the season, Bacon doubled and scored on a L. Camenzind double to extend the NU lead to 2-0 in the second inning.
Hannah Coor walked and Bacon singled to put two runners on in the fourth. L. Camenzind singled to score Coor before Bacon got caught stealing. Frahm knocked a two-out homer, her second of the day, to send herself and L. Camenzind across the plate to make the score 5-0.
NU added another run in the sixth, as Muhlbach doubled and Natalia Hill, who pinch ran, went to third on a Coor sac fly and scored on an error.
