MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis baseball team will host Little Rock at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field Tuesday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
This will be the 59th all-time meeting against Little Rock, with Memphis leading the series 43-15. In the most recent matchup (3/5/25), Memphis run-ruled Little Rock 13-3 in eight innings, in part due to a nine-run fourth inning.
Memphis (2-1) is fresh off an opening series win against Toledo at home over the weekend. The Tigers dropped game one 8-6, despite scoring five runs in the final three frames. In game two, the two teams went back and forth with Toledo taking a late 3-2 lead before Michael Gupton tied the game with a timely RBI single. The Tigers would go down again in the 10th, but Shane Cox delivered for Memphis, hitting a walk-off two-RBI double in the bottom of the inning.
Toledo took an early lead in game three, but Memphis took the lead right back in the first inning and never looked back. LHP David Case got the win after tossing six innings, allowing two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts, earning honorable mention American Conference Pitcher of the Week honors.
The Tigers went 10-for-10 on stolen bases last weekend, with seven different players swiping at least one bag. Memphis ranks first in the American in stolen bases and 22nd in the nation.
Memphis also showed tremendous plate discipline, drawing a total of 22 walks, trailing only Wichita State in the American and ranking 31st nationally.
Little Rock (2-1) travels to Memphis after a series win over Eastern Michigan over the weekend.
RHP Seth Impson (6-1, 3.95 ERA last year at Lincoln Land CC) will make his first start for the Tigers while the Trojans will send out senior Malcolm Brown (1-3, 4.99 ERA in 2025).
Little Rock is powered offensively by Nico Baumbach (6 H / 2 2B / 1 HR), Ty Rhoades (5 H / 1 3B / 5 RBI) and Angel Cano (6 H / 4 R / 1 HR). The Trojans rank sixth in the nation in hits allowed per nine innings at 4.67.
