The Texas Rangers made two giant blockbuster deals right before the strike in 2022.
They signed Corey Seager to play shortstop and Marcus Semien to play second.
Texas paid almost half a billion dollars to bring in those two guys. They have already achieved their ultimate goal by winning it all in 2023.Lately, there have been rumors of a rift between the two superstars, especially after Semien was traded to the Mets this offseason.Seager Speaks on SemienSeager was asked about the rift during the day on Monday at spring training in Surprise, AZ:
“He’s a really good player,” Seager said of Semien, according to texasrangers.com.
“We won a World Series here, just like all the 26 people that did. You can’t ever take that away from us, what we were able to accomplish. [The trade] was definitely something that you — I don’t know if you expect or not expect, but that’s just baseball, right? It happens. Sometimes you need changes of pace.”
According to reports, Seager said there was no major tension between the two, and he wished Marcus well in New York.
“That’s just all speculation,” Seager said to reporters.
“Marcus and I had a fine relationship. We both respected each other, we were both professional, and we knew how to go about our business and try to accomplish a goal. We did that in ‘23. As I said, you can’t take that away from us.”

The Rangers moved off of 3 of their major contributors from the World Series: Semien, Adolis Garcia, and Jonah Heim. They believe they are a better team moving forward with Skip Schumaker at the helm.
Seager is still a great player, and Josh Smith has been great defensively wherever he has been asked to play.
I believe that this was strictly a move to improve the outfield with the loss of Garcia. The Rangers and Semien made a business decision.
Spring training is underway, and the Rangers have a lot of work to do to prepare.
