It’s never too early to project what the NCAA baseball tournament will look like on Selection Monday.
The selection process has been tweaked this year, with the committee now seeding the top 32 teams, as opposed to just the top 16. The bracket won’t necessarily reflect that seeding, as the committee will group teams in similar ranges and then follow its familiar bracketing principles like emphasizing geography and separating teams from the same conference. So, for example, teams seeded 1-4 will be grouped with teams seeded 29-32 and will be matched accordingly.
The change in seeding format should result in a more balanced bracket, but we will have to wait until the bracket is announced on Memorial Day to find out exactly how it all shakes out.
Seven leagues received multiple bids: SEC (14), ACC (10), Big 12 (six), Big Ten (four), Sun Belt (three), AAC (two) and Big West (two).
Last four in: Washington, UTSA, Nebraska, Notre Dame
First four out: Indiana, Kansas State, Western Kentucky, Northeastern
