Orioles Jordan Westburg out with partially torn UCL, out through April

The Orioles will be out another infielder for the beginning of the season as Jordan Westburg has suffered a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow.Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias confirmed with the media Friday that Westburg will miss multiple weeks with the injury and will not get surgery and will opt for platelet-rich plasma injection instead. This would give an option to return later this season, rather than miss it all with surgery. He will but the third baseman out until April when he will be reevaluated. The hope is for the PRP injections to allow him to possibly return as a designated hitter if they are effective. The loss of Westburg leaves a whole in the lineup as well as at third base. They were already down an infielder after Jackson Holliday broke a bone in his hand just before spring training. Now they will turn to a combination of the newly acquired Blaze Alexander, Coby Mayo and Jeremiah Jackson to fill in at third.
