Northwest Iowa college provides update on members of their baseball team after crash

  • February 20, 2026

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa (KTIV) – Members of a Northwest Iowa baseball team and one bus driver continue to receive medical care ten days after they were involved in a bus crash.

On Friday, Feb. 20, Iowa Lakes Community College provided an update on its baseball team and their recovery after a crash involving one of their buses took place on Wednesday, Feb. 11, shortly after 11 a.m.

The college states, “At this time, one student-athlete remains hospitalized and continues to receive medical care. Other team members are continuing their recovery and receiving appropriate support.”

The Northwest Iowa-based college also says the bus driver, identified by authorities as 74-year-old Edward Greving of Estherville, remains hospitalized.

As previously reported, the Iowa State Patrol says Greving failed to negotiate the curve while traveling southbound on the Iowa Highway 4 in Calhoun County, Iowa. The bus then left the highway and overturned in a ditch. The bus, which crashed near Twin Lakes, was the only vehicle involved.

Authorities say the bus rolled when the driver overcorrected. One student told KTIV that the bus was driving the team to a game in Arkansas.

The status of the Iowa Lakes Community College’s upcoming baseball season has not been announced. KTIV has reached out to the college for more information, and we are waiting to hear back.
