Leadoff hitter Jayson Schmeisser was 7-for-7 batting with two doubles, six RBI, and five runs scored, and Cabrillo College’s baseball team blasted host De Anza 26-7 in the teams’ nonconference game in Cupertino on Saturday.

It was the Seahawks’ largest offensive output since annihilating Hartnell 28-1 on April 10, 2021.

Cabrillo (9-5 overall) finished with 26 hits and drew eight walks.

Ellis Lubiens was 5 for 7, with three RBI, and four runs scored. Triton Dew was 4 for 6 with a walk, three RBI and three runs. Lucas Durand had three hits, one walk, four RBI, and three runs, and Jake Fiorenza had three hits, two RBI, and two runs.

Schmeisser, who raised his season batting average to .431, also had a walk and stolen base.

De Anza dropped to 2-11.

Cabrillo hosts Chabot (2-11) on Thursday at 2 p.m.

New Money Fight Club 4: San Jose’s Raul Ortiz, a Scotts Valley High alum, retained his New Money Fight Club featherweight title belt by earning a unanimous decision over Sacramento’s Amarius Taylor in the co-main event of NMFC 4 at Osorio Training Center in Hayward on Saturday.

The taller Taylor (1-5-0-0) dropped 25 pounds took fight on one week’s notice. He nearly connected on a vicious roundhouse kick, but the mobile Ortiz evaded the strike and earned the first of his four takedowns.

Taylor, taken down twice in the second period and once in the third, was forced to fight from his back for the majority of the fight.
