Athletics 10, Brewers 0
Tyler Black went 3 for 3 with a home run and six runs batted in to power the Brewers to their first Cactus League victory, a 10-0 shutout of the Athletics at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Arizona, on Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Black hit a two-run blast in the first, a bases-clearing single and capped his day with a run-scoring double in the fifth. He also stole a base.
The three-run single was a statistical oddity, with only two such cases occurring in the major leagues last season.
“I decided to throw on the parachute there,” said Black, noting the presence of A’s center-field whiz Denzel Clarke.
Among the four pitchers in major league camp to see action was right-hander Coleman Crow, who allowed a single and hit a batter but came back with a strikeout and then finished the fifth by inducing a groundout.

Crow was added to the Brewers’ 40-man roster in the offseason and after starting for the entirety of his minor league career could factor in as a long relief option in the bullpen at some point in 2026.
– Brice Turang worked a 14-pitch walk in the third inning from Mason Barnett. He fouled off nine pitches total, including four straight and seven of eight during one stretch.
– David Hamilton and Akil Baddoo both experienced some buzzard’s luck after crushing balls to straightaway center field that hit off the batter’s eye and dropped back into the field of play for doubles, which goes according to the ground rules at Hohokam Stadium.
Hamilton’s shot (425 feet) would have been a homer in 28 of 30 major league ballparks while Baddoo’s (434) would have gone out of all 30.

– It’s spring training for everyone, apparently, as the headshot on the scoreboard throughout the entirety of the game for Blake Perkins was actually that of former Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta.

“That’s something to work with, huh?” manager Pat Murphy on 6-foot-3, 250-pound Wande Torres, a left-hander who threw a scoreless seventh inning against the San Diego Padres on Feb. 23. The 21-year-old was 1-10 last season at Class A Carolina but averaged a strikeout an inning and was reaching 97 mph against the Padres.
Prospect watch
Luke Adams, starting at third base, had moments both in the field and at the plate. He opened the bottom of the second by playing a slow chopper by Jacob Wilson, gloving the ball on a tough short hop and then firing an on-target throw on the move to first base for the out.

Then in the fifth, Adams rifled a run-scoring triple down the right-field line. He also walked in his second plate appearance.
“He’s a good baseball player,” Murphy said. “You can’t play third unless you can make that play. I like that kid a lot.”
