Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be rolling out a series of prospect previews for Spring Training. This week we looking at an arm that could help in 2026: Miguel Ullola

Ullola is the latest in a long line of international arms developed by the Astros that also signed for a pretty small bonus. The 23-year-old features a strong fastball that sits in the mid-90s and generates plenty of swings and misses. The command has long been an issue for him and something he has to get figured out.

Ullola has posted ridiculous strikeout rates in the minors striking out 120 in 72 innings in 2022, 116 in 90.2 innings in 2023, 171 in 130.1 innings in 2024 and 131 in 113.2 innings last season. Despite the strong strikeout numbers for his minor league career he has a 6.1 BB/9 and it was 6.2 BB/9 last year in Triple-A.

Ullola appears to have the raw stuff to profile as an very good bullpen arm, though the Astros remain committed to developing him as a starter for now. The fastball and slider are his two best offerings, but he also mixes in a curveball. Overall, Ullola is in a position to help the Astros in 2026, but he will have to get better command of his pitches and throw more strikes.
