GREENVILLE — Freshman Jake Amman capped off a four-hit day with a walk off single in the bottom of the 10th inning to give College of Charleston an 8-7 victory over James Madison in baseball Feb. 27 at Fluor Field.
With the Dukes ahead 7-5, the Cougars cut the lead to one on a Will Tippett sacrifice fly in the eighth. In the bottom of the ninth, Dylan Johnson knotted the score with an RBI single.
After reliever Kurt Rogers tossed a scoreless top of the 10th for CofC, Amman sent a 1-2 pitch through the left side of the infield to score Payton Frehner for the winning run.
Charleston (4-6) earned its second walk-off win of the year.
Cougars freshman Carter Harrington tossed five innings of no-decision baseball in his first career weekend start. The righty yielded three runs, two earned, on five hits and two walks while striking out three.
Redshirt sophomore Ryan Hench punched out two JMU batters in the top of the ninth for CofC.
Citadel-Florida State
Due to inclement weather in Tallahassee, Fla., Friday’s matchup between The Citadel and Florida State was postponed. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday with the first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
Game 2 of the series will begin 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first contest. The series finale will be played as scheduled on Sunday at 1 p.m.
CSU-Brown
Charleston Southern’s series opener against Brown was moved due to the weather moving into the area.
The first game of the series will now be played on Saturday at noon with Game 2 of the series to be played after that. The series finale remains on schedule to be played on Sunday at noon with the game to be available to be streamed live on ESPN+.
