HOUSTON — The Texas baseball team will have to go through an old Big 12 opponent if the Longhorns want to score their 10th consecutive victory to open the season.

The Longhorns are set to play Baylor Saturday night at Daikin Park as part of the Bruce Bolt College Classic. Both teams won their first games of the tournament. Texas (9-0) thumped No. 9 Coastal Carolina, 8-1, while the Bears (6-3) took down another previously unbeaten SEC team, topping No. 11 Ole Miss, 6-5, in 10 innings.

It’ll be the 376th all-time meeting between the two programs. The Longhorns have won 257 of those games.

If they’re going to make it 258, they’ll likely need a good start from Luke Harrison, who has pitched to a 3.86 ERA this season over two starts. Baylor will be giving the ball to its own lefthander, Ethan Calder. An Austin native and product of Lake Travis High School, Calder has not yet allowed a run this season in 8⅔ innings of work.
