KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A fan favorite and member of the 2015 World Series-winning Kansas City Royals team is joining the club’s broadcast team.
Former Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer is joining Royals.TV as an analyst, the third analyst of broadcast crew that already features Rex Hudler and former Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie.
Hosmer is the second addition to the Royals’ broadcast team ahead of the 2026 season, along with Bridget Howard.
“Our 2014 and 2015 run wasn’t just a championship, but a city finding out what it was capable of,” Hosmer said. “My teammates and I were lucky to be on that field, but the energy came from the stands with fans buying in. That bond with this city doesn’t expire.
“I was 18 years old when this organization believed in me, and now I get to repay that belief from a different seat. The guys on this roster are building their own story, and we all know what happens when this city believes. I want to be here when that energy comes back around.”

Hosmer has joined Royals broadcasts from time to time in years past and has appeared on MLB Network and as a pre and postgame host for Apple TV games. He joins a Royals broadcast crew that includes play-by-play announcers Ryan Lefebvre and Jake Eisenberg, as well as the aforementioned Hudler and Guthrie as game analysts.
Joel Goldberg and Royals Hall of Famer Jeff Montgomery will continue hosting pre and postgame shows.
“Hoz is a Royals legend and World Champion who connected with our fans on and off the field and we’re honored to have him back,” Royals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager J.J. Picollo said. “All of us have been impressed with the energy and care he’s putting into this, which we know will benefit our fans and the club as we build more connections through Royals.TV.”
He played for the Royals from 2011-17 after being selected by Kansas City 3rd overall in the 2008 MLB Draft.
The four-time Gold Glove winner and 2016 MLB All-Star Game MVP was a key contributor to Kansas City’s back-to-back AL Championships in 2014 and 2015, and scored the game-tying run for the Royals in the clinching Game 5 of the 2015 World Series.
Hosmer remains the franchise’s all-time postseason leader in RBI.
KCTV will broadcast select Royals games this season, including the March 30 home-opener against the Minnesota Twins.
