If you start bragging about having the best dessert in Missouri, you better be prepared to bring it because the bar is high. There is a new opinion that the a St. Louis dessert tradition is as good as it gets in Missouri.
I want to be clear that this is not my favorite Missouri dessert, but the opinion of Cheapism who said that gooey butter cake is the chosen one. They also recommend some places in St. Louis which includes Clementine’s Naughty and Nice Creamery which has a gooey butter cake ice cream cone. The Blue Owl Restaurant in Kimmswick is known for serving a great gooey butter cake, too. Oh, it comes in ice cream form. Excuse me while I go find my favorite spoon.

I have yet to meet a Missouri dessert that I didn’t enjoy, but I would find it hard to vote against Ted Drewe’s frozen custard. If you’ve road-tripped to a St. Louis Cardinals game and NOT grabbed some frozen custard, you’re missing out. I think gooey butter cake in St. Louis or any of these other Missouri dessert options would greatly improve your after-meal experience. All come highly recommended, just don’t forget to share.
