The San Francisco 49ers could’ve used an upgrade to their safety room this offseason when they entered free agency, but that need is a bit more dire after they lost one of their safeties to another team.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, former 49ers defensive back Jason Pinnock is signing with the New York Giants.
Pinnock, 26, entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick (No. 175 overall) of the New York Jets in the 2021 NFL draft out of Pittsburgh. He spent one year with the Jets, three with the Giants and one with the 49ers.
This past year, he appeared in all 17 games for San Francisco, playing 46% of their defensive snaps and 20% of their special teams snaps. He finished the year with 41 tackles.
The 49ers now only have Malik Mustapha, Ji’Ayir Brown, Marques Sigle, Derrick Canteen and Darrick Forrest in the safety room for 2026.
