LSU baseball was unranked when the polls dropped on Monday. LSU lost four of six games entering conference play, and dropping the opening SEC series at Vanderbilt didn’t inspire confidence in Jay Johnson’s squad.

LSU picked up a much-needed win on Sunday to salvage the series and avoid the sweep, but that came after a lifeless performance on Saturday night. There are questions about this team right now as LSU struggles to find consistency in all phases of the game.

LSU didn’t just fall in the polls; the Tigers took a hit in the national title odds, too. Per BetMGM, LSU is +1200 to win the College World Series. That’s good enough to rank No. 4 nationally, but LSU was in the top spot for most of the offseason. Bettors are responding to LSU’s underwhelming first month.

Texas is now the favorite. The Longhorns +650 odds to win the CWS are the shortest odds in college baseball. Georgia Tech is No. 3 at +800, while UCLA sits at +900.
