While some Texas Rangers fans might have been sitting around and wishing the team’s offense showed some life last season, that’s improved in Cactus League play this season.
That’s some good news indeed. Now, it’ll be worth watching to see if that continues on Opening Day and beyond.

What areas have shown improvement in Spring Training? Let’s take a look and see what one close Rangers reporter is saying.
On Wednesday, a number of American League West Division reporters for MLB.com got together and shared their thoughts. What is Rangers beat reporter Kennedi Landry observing while watching Texas get loose for the upcoming season?
“The offensive approach has clearly evolved,” Landry wrote. “In 2025, the Rangers ranked 25th in wRC+ (92), 26th in slugging (.381), 26th in batting average (.234), tied for 26th in on-base percentage (.302), 22nd in runs (684) and tied for 22nd in walk rate (8.0%).
“Spring Training stats don’t mean much, but it’s clear that the offensive approach has changed dramatically,” Landry continued. “During Spring Training, Texas batters have produced a .274/.378/.457 line, averaging 6.13 runs per game.”

Over six runs per game in Cactus League play? Man, Rangers fans will take that to the bank and match that with a stellar Rangers’ starting rotation. Imagine sitting at Globe Life Field and watching Rangers after Rangers player cross home plate.
That’s an exciting prospect.
Speaking of prospects or key players, Landry is tipping her cap at what Brandon Nimmo has been doing this Spring. Landry also points out what manager Skip Schumaker has instilled into his players.
“The real answer for which single person has made the biggest impact is probably new manager Skip Schumaker, who brings a much-needed different voice to the clubhouse,” Landry wrote.

“But the practical on-field answer is Brandon Nimmo, whom the Rangers acquired in a trade that sent Marcus Semien to the (New York) Mets in November,” Landry continued.
“Nimmo has slid seamlessly into the leadoff spot and into right field, bringing the exact offense the Rangers need at the top of the lineup as well as the leadership they need for Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford in the outfield,” she wrote.
Here’s the big deal, Rangers fans. Schumaker, who has previous MLB managerial experience, has made sure that every single Rangers player knows what he expects out of them before Opening Day rolls around.
The Rangers definitely want to be in the mix for an AL West title this season, too. Fans just might be pleasantly surprised to see how Texas puts things together in every place, from the mound to the batter’s box.
