SURPRISE, Ariz. – Hagen Smith, a product of Bullard High School, had his best outing of the spring for the Chicago White Sox Sunday.

Smith, a left-handed pitcher, got the start in a game against the Kansas City Royals at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona.

Smith pitched two innings and didn’t allow any runs or hits. He struck out five Royals and walked one.

Kansas City eventually topped the White Sox 10-4 with Smith not figuring into the decision.

Smith, a non-roster invitee, has seen action in three games this spring and has fanned eight opposing batters in 3.2 frames of work.

Smith, who played collegiately at Arkansas, was the White Sox’s first round pick and fifth overall selection in the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft.

He is currently listed as the White Sox’ No. 5 prospect and is expected to begin the season as a member of the pitching rotation at Triple A Charlotte.

Pitching at Double A Birmingham last year, Smith fanned 108 batters in 56 innings of work.
