Several familiar faces return to Hammons Field as big-league players on Monday, March 23, as the St. Louis Cardinals have a final tune-up for the regular season as they take on the Double-A Springfield Cardinals in an exhibition game.
Gold Glove shortstop Masyn Winn, Gold Glove finalist center fielder Victor Scott II, Silver Slugger Alec Burleson and 2023 Springfield opening-day starting pitcher Michael McGreevy are former standouts returning to their Double-A proving ground.
Rosters for both teams will not be published until the day of the game.Â
​This will be the fifth time that St. Louis has visited Hammons Field to play its Double-A franchise with two games in 2005, two in 2008 and one in both 2012 and 2017.
Times to know: First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. with gates opening at 2:30 p.m. Springfield will have infield and batting practice starting at 2:30 p.m., with St. Louis taking infield and hitting at 3:50 p.m. Pre-game ceremonies are set for 5:35 p.m.
Ticket info: General admission seats are available to everyone online at $15 (plus taxes and fees) while remaining seats are only available with a RED Access Membership, which has plans ranging from just 10 games to all 69 regular-season games. Where St. Louis Cardinals go next: The big-league Cardinals travel to St. Louis to prepare for their season-opening game, at 3:05 p.m. March 26 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Where Springfield Cardinals go next: With more than a week remaining before opening the Texas League schedule, April 3 at Amarillo, the Springfield team returns to Jupiter, Fla., to complete spring training. The Double-A Cardinals open at Hammons Field on April 7 against Tulsa with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch.Â
Hammons Field bag, container, cooler policy: No bag or item larger than 5×9 inches will be permitted inside the stadium unless it is a clear bag (approximately 6x12x12). Hard-sided coolers and glass containers are not allowed. The Cardinals will not allow any exceptions outside of the following:
Clear bags: Clear bags will be available for purchase in the Team Store pending availability. Fans are also welcome to purchase from an outside retailer of their choice.
Diaper bag accompanying an infant.
Approved medical bag.
Blankets.
Small personal clutch no greater than 5×9.
One factory-sealed water bottle per person.
Parking: Cost is $10 per car in the main parking lot directly south of the stadium across Trafficway Street. Both cash and card are accepted, and the revenue from that lot goes back into ballpark improvements. In addition, Price Cutter on the corner of National and St. Louis offers $5 parking with proceeds going to local charities.
