Giants fan favorite Wilmer Flores has found a new landing spot after his contract wasn’t renewed this offseason by San Francisco.
The 34-year-old infielder is set to join the Toros De Tijuana of the Mexican Baseball League, the team announced Thursday on social media.
“With a solid track record in the major leagues, a timely bat and defensive reliability, Wilmer Flores arrives at Toros de Tijuana,” the statement read, translated from Spanish. “Welcome Wilmer, see you soon at Toros Mobil Park!”

Over six seasons with the Giants, Flores slashed .321/.426./747 across 667 games with 92 home runs and 313 RBIs. The Venezuela native, who also has played in MLB with the New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks, especially was impactful as a pinch hitter in high-leverage situations.
Earlier this offseason, Flores expressed his desire to keep playing despite his Giants tenure coming to a close.
“My hope is to keep playing, I still have a lot to give and as we know, the offseason is moving a little slow, but you know, staying ready,” he said on MLB Network’s “Hot Stove” show.
If this is it for Flores’ MLB career, it certainly will go down as a successful one. And no matter what, he’ll be known as a Forever Giant.
