The Chattanooga Mocs softball team fell 8-3 to Wofford Sunday afternoon at Finley Stadium in the final game of the three-game Southern Conference series. UTC falls to 12-17-1 overall and 1-2 in league play while the Terriers improve to 22-5 on the year and 2-1 in conference action.
The Terriers had six hits in the third inning to take a 6-0 lead. The Mocs responded with a three-run rally in the sixth started with a lead off home run from Baileigh Pitts. Anna Dovey followed with a double and pinch runner Izzy Carlyle scored three batters later on a ground rule double by Raven Jones. Abi Bunt’s sac fly to right plated Auburn Karls for the Mocs third run of the game to make it 6-3.
Wofford added another two runs in the seventh.
Chattanooga spread out five hits and had three RBI in the game. Taylor Long struck out three in two and 2/3 innings. Emery Bales struck out one and forced seven ground outs over her first eight batters and closed the game with two strikeouts.
