The Chicago White Sox are in an intriguing position heading into the 2026 season. The team has some interesting hitters in their lineup, but compared to the rest of the league, it’s not as strong. There are some quality hitters, but where exactly does the team rank? One outlet listed all 30 teams’ lineups, so let’s take a look at that list.
The Chicago White Sox rank 28th in The Athletic’s lineup rankings

The White Sox have some interesting hitters, but overall is a weak lineup. Jim Bowden of The Athletic created a list of every team’s lineup. Chicago struggled as they were 28th in the majors on his list. Below is what Bowden wrote about its lineup:
“The White Sox jumped into free agency this offseason and landed Japanese star Munetaka Murakami, who will be their everyday first baseman. Murakami has plus power but also significant contact issues. He has drawn comparisons to a wide spectrum of players… My guess is he lands the closest to [Max] Muncy, which would still mean he’s a strong player.
“The rest of their lineup includes 2021 first-round pick Colson Montgomery’s power bat and one of the best up-and-coming catchers in Kyle Teel, who had a solid debut last season. The White Sox finally traded Luis Robert Jr. this offseason, but I’m not sure they got enough back in the deal… The Sox have a ways to go before they have a contending lineup, but they are trending in the right direction.”
The White Sox have some young players who can go through some growing pains. However, others are going to be able to live up to expectations. According to Fangraphs, four hitters have a projected wRC+ of at least 100. Chicago needs to figure out how to outperform projections and have a strong lineup throughout the season.
