After dropping six of its last nine overall, Clemson fell out of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll on Monday, just two weeks after being ranked No. 9. The Tigers are still ranked by both Baseball America and the NCBWA at No. 24. Coastal Carolina is having opposite fortunes as Clemson. The Chanticleers (16-7) are coming off a three-game sweep of James Madison over the weekend in Conway. They’re ranked No. 20 in the Coaches Poll and outscored JMU, 38-8, in the series’ three games.

Led by transfer outfielder Nate Savoie’s .402/.481/.750 slash line, Clemson is batting .299 as a team while Tigers pitchers have combined for a 3.23 ERA through 25 games. Clemson’s ERA has risen by over a full point in the past two weeks. Coastal Carolina enters the night batting .271. Its pitchers have a combined 4.92 ERA in 195 2/3 innings.
