Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran had himself a hot preseason. Between spring training competition for the Sox and World Baseball Classic contests as a member of Team Mexico, Duran’s performance at the plate left everyone impressed.
As MassLive’s Christopher Smith noted on Wednesday, Duran hit .381 across both landscapes with six home runs and three doubles. Not bad!
Red Sox’ Jarren Duran went 16-for-42 (.381) with six homers and three doubles in 15 Grapefruit League and World Baseball Classic games combined this spring.

Duran has talked this spring about mental adjustments he’s made, mostly in terms of not caring too much about the outcome of his at-bats, focusing instead on the process.Â
After a “down” year in 2025 compared to his 2024 All-Star campaign, for which Duran received AL MVP votes, Jarren looks and sounds like a guy who is poised to return to All-Star form in 2026.
Still south of 30 years old, Duran is in the prime of his career. There are a lot of reasons to believe that he will have an excellent year at the plate for Boston, using his fiery base-running to the Red Sox’s advantage all season long.
