The Atlanta Braves entered spring training with expectations of rebounding during the 2026 season. The chances of that coming to fruition have faced a harsh reality in recent weeks, as a number of players on the roster are now battling injuries.
Still, Atlanta features talent. This Braves ball club could still make noise in 2026. If they are going to get back on track, the team will need two specific players to bounce back.

Riley, 28, made back-to-back All-Star teams in 2022 and 2023. He has been limited over the past two years, and his performance has also declined.
In 2025, Riley appeared in 102 games. He slashed just .260/.309/.428 during that span. The infielder added 16 home runs.
Missing time obviously impacted Riley. From 2021-2023, the third baseman consistently recorded OPS marks in the 800’s. He also played in at least 159 contests during those seasons.
The Braves need Riley to both stay on the field and perform at a high level. He has the potential to help Ronald Acuna Jr. and Matt Olson lead the lineup.

Albies is also a two-time All-Star who has not been the same player in recent years. His 2025 was especially concerning, as he did not find success despite playing in 157 games.
The second baseman hit .240/.306/.365 with 16 home runs and 14 stolen bases. In 2023, Albies’ most recent All-Star season, he hit .280 to go along with an .849 OPS and 33 home runs.
At 29 years old, one has to imagine that Albies could find his 2023 form once again. There are no guarantees that it will happen, however.
Spencer Strider and Spencer Schwellenbach are among a number of starting pitchers who are currently injured. Even if Riley and Albies bounce back, the team will not be guaranteed to make the playoffs.

With that being said, Atlanta’s lineup is clearly going to need to step up throughout the upcoming campaign. If guys like Albies and Riley can play well, the offense should be able to make a significant impact, which will help to win more games.
The Braves are not in the best position heading into the regular season, but there is still hope despite all of the injuries.
Will Austin Riley and Ozzie Albies end up bouncing back? Only time will tell, but the Braves certainly need them to perform at a high level.
