Pete Alonso is not the only new addition to the Baltimore Orioles this season. They also have a new scoreboard that’s massive compared to the old one.

Oriole Park at Camden Yards opened in 1992 and was designed to look like an old-school ballpark. Until this year, it used to have a very tiny scoreboard. Here is what we know about the change (via Baltimore Sun):

“It’s hard to miss the most prominent new ballpark feature. The Orioles went from having the smallest video board in MLB to the 12th largest, installing a 7,466-square-foot jumbotron with 4K resolution in the place of the old scoreboard. The new video board will include more gameplay data for fans to ingest and feature an overhauled graphics package.”

The reveal, though it now blocks some of the B&O Warehouse, was genuinely cool to watch. The old scoreboard was displayed on the new scoreboard, which made fans realize exactly how much bigger the new one should feel.

Camden Yards is also known for their 31-foot length, 14-foot diameter and 5,000 pound clock above the scoreboard. That got a facelift as well.

The Orioles and Maryland Stadium Authority took the clock down so it can undergo a complete refurbishment, which it hasn’t received since it went up more than 30 years ago. The faces will be changed, the neon lighting on the “Orioles” lettering swapped out for LED, a fresh coat of paint delivered and a new internal mechanism installed. The weather vanes are also receiving touch-ups.

In addition, Camden Yards is now equipped with 90 new speakers as well as 600 televisions and LED ribbon boards.

They also installed a new video board, which was upgraded to HD in 2008, on the right field wall.
