Boston Red Sox rising superstar Roman Anthony didn’t waste any time on Opening Day.

In Boston’s 3-0 win at the Cincinnati Reds, Anthony went 3-for-4 with three singles and also worked a walk.
That made him just the 14th 21-year old in baseball history to reach base four times on Opening Day, according to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe.
Of those first 13 to do it before Anthony, nine are in the Hall of Fame.
It’s an astounding list of company for Anthony to keep. This is the 13 guys that came before him, in order:

And yes, those are some impressive ballplayers.
Anthony now joins them in a way that he only had one chance to do. He’ll never play another Opening Day at this age.
But as he has already proven quite capable of, Anthony rose to the occasion. It likely won’t be the last time he does that.
