The NC Dinos held Drew Berhagen in their arms as a short-term replacement foreign pitcher for Riley Thompson, who suffered a ruptured left abdominal muscle.

NC said on the 28th, “We recruited right-handed pitcher Berghagen for a total of $100,000 (annual salary 70,000 + option 30,000) for six weeks as a substitute for Riley’s injury.”

Berhagen was born on October 22, 1990, and is a right-handed pitcher with a height of 198 cm and a weight of 104 kg. He started his professional career in 2012 after being nominated by the Detroit Tigers, and gained various experiences in the Major League Baseball (MLB) and Japan.

Berghagen sprays fastballs averaging 149 km and up to 154 km, and can also play a variety of pitches, including changeups, cutters, and sweepers. In particular, it has a sweeper and change-up that can be used regardless of left and right hitters, and its stable control is evaluated as a strength.

In addition, he has experience in Japanese professional baseball while playing for the Nippon Ham Fighters in the Japanese Professional Baseball (NPB) from 2024 to 2025. He is also expected to have strengths in adapting to the KBO league.

NC explained, “We are looking forward to stabilizing the starting lineup through Berhagen’s joining, and we will join the team on the 29th.”

Meanwhile, Berghagen has already been known to Korean fans. This is why he signed a contract with SSG Landers at the end of last year. However, he later failed to pass the medical test and eventually ended up terminating the contract.
